The hysteresisloop of fixing element (An analysis by boundary element method)

1986
There are energylosses when tangential load is applied to fixing element such as a bolt joint. A tangential load-displacement relations makes a hysteresisloop in a fixing element. The hysteresisloop was calculated by boundary element method. In theory three kinds of contact nodes were considered, which are free, stick and slip. From numerical result, stick-slip zone varies with tangential load, and the inclination of hysteresisloop increases and that area decreases as the normal load increases and the tangential load dicreases. Theoretical results are qualitatively in good agreement with experimental result in predicting relation between the inclinations or areas and the amplitude of tangential load.
