Cryobiopsy, Cryoanesthesia, and Cryoanalgesia

Cold has long been used to reduce pain. One interesting use of LN is as topical analgesia for superficial procedures such as shaving biopsy. The simplicity of the procedure, the fastness, and the advantage of not requiring infiltrating local anesthesia make it an ideal procedure for shave biopsy. There should not be concern about changes on the tissue because it causes no artifacts on the specimen.
