A brief history of methylphenidate : psychiatry - ADHD

Methylphenidate (MPH) was developed in 1944 by a chemist, Leandro Panizzon, who, as the story goes, developed the medication to help his wife Rita who had low blood pressure and couldn't play tennis. He named the drug 'Ritaline' after his wife.
