The invention provides an epoxy acrylate copolymer emulsion which is a self-cross-linked polymer formed by initiated polymerization based on methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate as comonomers, glycidyl methacrylate and unsaturated hydrocarbyl acid as functional monomers, a compound of an ionic emulsifier and a nonionic emulsifier as a compound emulsifier, and potassium persulfate or ammonium persulfate as an initiator. As epoxy groups are introduced, the compatibility, the thermal stability and the water resisting property of the copolymer are improved to a certain extent. An emulsion paint film is good in compactness, and the corrosion resistance, the water resisting property, the solvent resistance and the adhesiveness are further improved to a greater extent. The paint for an external wall prepared by compounding the emulsion as a film former with inorganic macromolecular filler has the advantages that the coating is sparse in structure, a lot of gap coatings exist, the specific surface area is large and ducts and gaps are formed inside, so that the paint is good in ventilation, water-absorbing quality and water-retaining property, and appropriate humidity is maintained indoors, therefore, the paint is a green and environment-friendly humidifying paint.
