Organization development in the garment industry of Southern China

This paper compares the state of general organizational development in the garment sectors of Hong Kong and Southern China. The Contingency view of an organization is used to assess the state of balance and interactions among the principal subsystems of the organizations. The findings indicate that the organizations in China are starting to mature, and that the subsystems are beginning to interact. This type of study can suggest appropriate organizational designs that achieve an appropriate balance between technology levels and managerial practices.
