Further Study on the S-100 Antigen in Neoplastic Tissues

1985
Abstract In the present study, by the PAP method with an anti S-100, a scanty population of stellate or elongated cells, identifiable as folliculo-stellate cells, was detected in normal human adenohypophysis and in pituitary adenomas, mostly of GH-secreting type. Moreover, in hemangioblastomas, S-100 immunostaining enabled us to detect the presence of stained cells, possibly of a reactive glial nature, while “stromal cells” appeared to be devoid of reaction product.
