Toughened Polypropylene Materials Prepared by In-situ Bubble Stretching Method

Polypropylene random copolymer/nano calcium carbonate(PP-R/nano-CaCO3) composite,with the content of nano-CaCO3 being 5~30phr,were prepared by in-situ bubble stretching(ISBS) method.It was found by scanning electron microscope(SEM) that ISBS method dispersed nano-CaCO3 homogeneously in the PP-R matrix.When nano-CaCO3 was at a content of 20phr,Charpy notched impact strength of composite prepared by ISBS method was 20.4 % higher than that of composite prepared by mechanical dispersion method.Results revealed that ISBS method,compared with mechanical dispersion method,could disperse nano-CaCO3 more homogeneously in the PP-R matrix,and it make nano-CaCO3 obtain a nano-leveled dispersion so as to prepare highly tough PP matrix composite.
