The cleaning apparatus comprising: a cleaning member in a direction intersecting the moving direction of the developer carrier, the developer carrier cleaning member contacting the developer carrier and the developer carrier is cleaned by removing the developer from the developer carrier; recovery unit, which is provided with a recovery port, and the developer removed by the cleaning member by recovery holes, the recovery port formed in an end portion of the developer carrier in a direction intersecting the moving direction of the developer carrier; and a guide member, which guides the developer to the recovery port, in a direction intersecting the moving direction of the developer carrier, an end of the guide member is located outside the end portion of the cleaning member and the developer carrier beyond the end portion, and the guide member the other end of the cleaning member is located within.
