Protease variants with multiple substitutions net charge altered to use detergents.
1998
A method of improving the performance of a subtilisin in a system with low detergent concentration having less than 800 ppm of detergent components present in the wash water, comprising: a) substituting an amino acid residue at one or more positions in a precursor subtilisin to produce a subtilisin variant wherein the substitution alters the charge at that position to make the more negative or less positive compared to the precursor load; b) testing the variant in a system with low detergent having less than 800 ppm of detergent components present in the wash water by comparing the ability of the precursor and the variant to remove a stain.
