Stalno strucno usavrsavanje knjiznicnog osoblja u Republici Hrvatskoj : Potrebe i mogucnosti

The paper describes the main aspects and objectives of continuing professional education (CPE) for LIS professionals in Croatia. The need for improving the knowledge and skills of Croatian librarians and library assistants is highlighted as well as the opportunity for co-ordinating and systematising all efforts which have been performed from the 1950s up to present. An analysis of the 1996 survey conducted among Croatian librarians and library assistants - members of the Croatian Library Association - is given and the data is presented in a way that sheds more light on the current situation in the field of education and CPE in the librarianship profession in Croatia.
