CEA has set up and operates various types of installations from research to industry. There are currently 22 facilities which are in the process of being dismantled by CEA. Dealing with these instal- lations is a long-term programme which is carefully planned and financed in order to optimise its management. The stake for dismantling is to show that we manage rigorously the fuel cycle « back end » with dismantling of shutdown nuclear facilities and also retrieval, conditioning of legacy wastes. CEA’s objective is to carry out its entire Dismantling and Decommissioning program in respect of safety, security, cost and duration with the priority to dismantle the nuclear facilities enclosed in cities, like Grenoble and Fonte- nay- aux-Roses and to dismantle UP1 processing facility in Marcoule, which is one of the biggest D&D projec
