Construction of a Flow Phantom for Use in Color Power Sonography

To standardize interpretation of color power images, a flow phantom was constructed. The unit consisted of a digital pulsatile pump, tubing, an agarose scanning window, and a flow medium that contained starch particles. The flow phantom produced consistent and reliable flow that could be used to index and standardize each ultrasound image. The unit proved to be highly functional and reliable and was relatively inexpensive to construct.
