R.K. Narayan is one of the most important novelists of India along with Mulk Raj Anand and Raja Rao. The three were colossal figures of their generations who put Indian Literature in English on the world map. R.K. Narayan's novels show his keen observations about Indian social life. The current paper concentrates on his novel The Guide which has also been made into a successful film by Dev Anand.
