The following paper reviews the special requirements in the manufacturing of bi-layer tablets. Main areas of concern including the reasons for the occurrence of these problems are discussed. Various machine configurations used for the production of bi-layer tablets are critically compared. A main focus area here is the possibility of assessing the individual weight of each layer.
