Fabrication of zinc oxide-based supercapacitors and eggshell membrane as separator

2013
A supercapacitor has been fabricated using ZnO-Al composite as electrodes and eggshell membrane (ESM) as a separator. Zinc acetate has been deposited on aluminum sheets by means of spray pyrolysis at 350°C. The device has been formed by immersing the electrodes and ESM into 1M Na2SO4 electrolyte for 24 hours and then layering the two electrodes with the ESM in between. The capacitance of the supercapacitor has been determined by cyclic voltammetry (CV). It has been observed that the capacitance obtained at increasing scan rates of 10, 50 and 100 mV/s are decreasing with values of 1.46 F, 0.67 F and 0.38 F respectively.
