Schiff base derivatives of chromium carbonyl

1985
Abstract N,N′-Ethylenebis(benazalideneimine) (SB 1 ), N,N′-ethylenebis( p -anisylideneimine) (SB 2 ), N,N′-ethylenebis(methylphenylketimine) (SB 3 ) and N,N′-ethylenebis(diphenylketimine) (SB 4 ) reacted with chromium hexacarbonyl to give cis -disubstituted derivatives. Schiff base (SB) bridged dinuclear derivatives, (Ph 3 E)(CO) 4 Cr-μ-(SB)-Cr(CO) 4 (Ph 3 E) were obtained by refluxing (Ph 3 E)Cr(CO) 5 (E = P and As) and SB in toluene. Bromine and iodine oxidation of cis -(SB)Cr(CO) 4 gave a mixture of CO free products, (SB)CrX 2 (X = Br and I) and CrX 2 . Nitrosylation of cis -(SB)Cr(CO) 4 using NO-swept benzene was also investigated.
