Clinical study on semiconductor laser in the treatment of refractory glaucoma

2011
Objective To exploare the value of transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation in the treatment of refractory glaucoma. Methods Using transscleral semiconductor diode laser cyclophtotocoagulation(energy 1.5-2.0W,time 1s,range 180-360°,count 12-30)to treat 53 eyes with refractory glaucomea. Results Follow-up was 13-21 months.IOP decreased from 48.7±8.5mmHg(33.2-64.9mmHg) of pretreatment to 19.3±7.6mmHg(6.8-32.7mmHg) of post-treatment,and there was significant reduction in mean IOP(P0.01).IOP fell more than 30% in 41 cases. The success rate of surgery was 77.3%,and eye pain relief rate was 92.5%.Uveitis and hyphema were the major complications. Conclusion Transscleral semiconductor diode laser cyclophotocoagulation is an efficient, safe and repeatable treatment for refractory glaucoma with less complication.
