Novel agents for microdispersed systems. II: New monodisperse F-alkylated surfactants with a polymerizable moiety

1994
In this paper we describe a method of synthesis which has been patented and allows one to obtain non-ionic F-alkylated surfactants with a lateral polymerizable moiety and having a general formula analogous to non-polymerizable non-ionic F-alkylated surfactants by formally grafting a polymerizable group on the last ethylene oxide unit of a monodisperse polyoxyethylated F-alkylated surfactant: R F C 2 S(C 2 H 4 O) n H → R F C 2 H 4 S(C 2 H 4 O) n CH 2 CXHOH with X being a polymerizable group such as a diallylic or an acryloyl unit. Surface tension determinations show that these polymerizable surfactants display a strong surface activity.
