This paper underlines the importance of the development of "commit ted" workforce in an industrial society. Then it goes on to ex plain how societies differ from one another and how these differen ces influence the degree of commitment among the workers. In doing so, emphasis has been laid on the individual variations. The author observes that the traditional Indian culture appears to present no serious obstacle to the process of commitment among industrial. workers.
