ALAT PERAGA PEMBELAJARAN WHIRLPOOL TURBINE

The energy crisis in Indonesia can be overcome by the renewable energy. One of them is by using water as a source of electric current. However, there are several problems in delivering the theory of alternative energy, especially to students in elementary, junior high, and high school levels. Therefore, to better understand the concepts and the right illustration of alternative energy, it needs creative innovation in making teaching aids, that is by making whirpool turbine as teaching aids. Whirlpool turbine is an application of hydroelectric power plants that convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. This tool uses materials that are cheap and easy to obtain. By utilizing a whirlpool that is formed, the propeller can be driven so that it produces an electric current which is marked by the ignition of an Light Emitting Diode (LED) light. The purpose of making this teaching aid is to be used as a new innovation of teaching aids made previously by using a whirlpool turbine as an alternative energy. The results show that the Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights is on because the vortex can move the turbine which is then converted into electrical energy.
