Electronic structure and second order hyperpolarizability of polythiophene and thiophene oligomers

Abstract Phase and frequency resolved third harmonic generation experiments in a substituted polythiophene are presented. A two-photon level 0.55 eV below the one-photon level is evidenced by a three-level model fit of experimental points. The results of the fit are compared with previous CNDO calculations.
