Managing the Metrics - An Enhancement

The use of the ROMANSE system to produce a network capacity estimation & evaluation tool is discussed. The system uses data collected by the SCOOT system. Data was analysed & displayed in graph format so that road section capacity & relative average demand could be calculated. In addition, the system could study the impact on a road system of additional demand & could identify when demand would exceed capacity. The system has now been enhanced to allow evaluation of the capacity of the intersection and allow the identification of the practical reserve capacity. Further enhancement of the features & capabilities of the system is currently in progress.
