La riforma Franceschini e le sorellastre di Cenerentola
2015
From the author’s point of view, the principles that inspire the reform promoted by Italian secretary Dario Franceschini evaluate cultural assets as an economic source for the country. Consequently, the focus is on 20 museums which were given authonomy and executive status. Archives and libraries were treated differently, since they don’t generate economic income but preserve traditions and culture, and they would become underlings of galleries, museums, libraries with executive status or the General Department of Libraries. Since between the 30 libraries which were sacrificed to this “spending review” we find some of the most important historical and conservation libraries (Medicea Laurenziana in Florence, Estense in Modena and Nazionale Braidense) the preoccupation for the future of italian research looks more than well-founded.
