Device and method for regulating a generator

1991
The description relates to a device and process for regulating a generator by means of which increased generator output power can be obtained either because the exciting current can assume a value above the rated exciting current or because the generator is so designed that overheating can occur in unfavourable circumstances. To prevent overheating from occurring even in unfavourable circumstances, the temperature is measured preferably in the regulator and the temperature at critical points is found from this temperature, taking account of typical parameters. This temperature measurement takes place in a special manner in that first the temperature or temperatures is/are found which would occur in steady-state conditions. On the detection of an unacceptably high temperature, the exciting current is reduced by suitable means so that the permissible maximum temperature is not exceeded.
