Study on the chemical constituents of the leaves of Ipomoea batatas

Objective:To study the chemical constituents of the leaves of Ipomoea batatas. Methods: The constituents were isolated and purified by silica gel and TLC,and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopy. Results: Six compounds were isolated from 90% ethanol extract and identified as tetracosane(Ⅰ),myristic acid(Ⅱ),β-sitosterol(Ⅲ),β-carotene(Ⅳ),daucosterol(Ⅴ) and quercetin(Ⅵ). Conclusion: Compounds Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅳ、Ⅴ are isolated from this plant for the first time.
