New insight into highly active cathode of proton conducting solid oxide fuel cells by oxygen ionic conductor modification

2015
Abstract A new type of oxygen ion conductor Gd 0.1 Ce 0.9 O 1.95 (GDC) modified La 0.6 Sr 0.4 Co 0.2 Fe 0.8 O 3-δ (LSCF) electrode is developed for proton conducting solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The modified LSCF electrode by nano GDC particles on BZCY electrolytes shows high performance. The power density of the single cell using GDC modified LSCF electrode at 700 °C is 782 mW cm −2 , which is higher than those of other electrodes. The encouraging results open a potential way to develop cathode materials for proton conducting SOFCs.
