Protective monolithic semiconductor component

PURPOSE: To realize coupling of a serial rectifying diode and two avalanche diodes within a monolithic element and also maintain advantage of a lower forward voltage drop between two terminals. CONSTITUTION: A protective monolithic semiconductor component has an input terminal 17, an output terminal 18 and a reference terminal 19. This component includes, between its input terminal 17 and output terminal 18, a first diode PIN of a first polarity having a lower forward voltage drop and an inverse breakdown voltage between 20 to 40 volts and a second protective diode NP 2 , having the same polarity between the output terminal 18 and a reference terminal 19. The first diode PIN is arranged laterally between two electrodes at the front surface of the component, while the second diode NP 2 is arranged vertically between the electrode on the front surface of the component and the electrode on a rear surface.
