Integrating Best Practices in Sustainability Within Supply Chain Management

Sustainability is a multifaceted concept that requires coordinated action of multiple organizational functions and supply chains. However, research in Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) best practices to date has studied best practices separately and has, thus far, mostly ignored the need to integrate these practices. This systematic literature review of existing SSCM best practices addressed this need for an integrated approach. We mapped SSCM best practices into six main categories: organizational and strategic management, sustainability and corporate social responsibility standards, specific social and environmental practices, sustainable procurement, relationship with suppliers, and strategic partnerships. We propose a framework that integrates these different categories of SSCM best practices.
