La ricostruzione acetabolare con augment in tantalio nei gravi difetti ossei

2009
Acetabular bone defects are a critical and frustrating issue; while it is possible to obtain a good reconstruction with conventional methods (i.e. bulk graft, cage and cement), such results are rarely observed in longer-term follow-up. The aim of this paper is to present a reconstructive method, based on tantalum properties, designed to perform the filling of defects as augmentation. We analyzed 26 cases of acetabular defects, scored 3A or more according to Paprosky. Preliminary data are encouraging: good clinical results and no failures at 2-year average follow-up, nor pending revisions.
