PPG Signal Measurement in Weak Magnetic Field by a Wearable Sensor

The paper describes a currently developed wearable sensor based on the photoplethysmography (PPG) principle for the non-invasive acquisition of vital information about the cardiovascular system. The proposed sensor enables continual measurement of the PPG signal in the magnetic field environment with the inherent radiofrequency and electromagnetic disturbance. It can monitor the state of a tested person during examination in the scanning area of the open-air magnetic resonance tomograph. The performed experiments verify the practical functionality of the developed sensor including real-time wireless transmission of the measured PPG signal samples to the control device for next processing.
