Femto-magnetism visualized in three dimensions

We measured the three-dimensional real-space trajectory of the magnetization in ferromagnetic metallic films perturbed by femtosecond optical pulses. It reveals the dynamics of the initial ultrafast demagnetisation followed by the spin precession and damping.
