Magnetic Properties of RECO5‐Permanent Magnets

The magnetization and its anisotropy have been studied on SmCo5‐ and CeMMCo5‐permanent magnetic materials and SmCo5‐ and SmCu1.5Co3‐single crystals as a function of applied field. The dependence of the coercive force IHc(φ) on the angle φ between the applied field and the direction of easy magnetization yields information on the mechanism of the coercivity. A phenomenological model has been developed which allows the observed features to be described with one adjustable parameter, reproducing for IHc≪HA the Kondorsky‐ and for IHc≈HA the Stoner‐Wohlfarth‐behavior.
