Ballistometer reduction development and a program implementation in matrixx

1996
The nine accelerometer instrument, the 'ballistometer' in figure 1, has already been used in a space experiment. This Wet Satellite Model (WSM) experiment was performed in microgravityon the MASER 5 rocket on 9 April 1992. During the WSM experiment a small spacecraft, the Ejectable Ballistometer, was released containing a cylindrical tank partially filled with liquid. The spacecraft executed a 'flat spin' transition from an unstable rotation to a stable rotation. The Ejectable Ballistometer provided data, that can be processed to yield the force and torque between tank and liquid during the transition.
