Design of the control software for the muon readout system in NA48

We present a brief description of the readout system for the muon detector in the CERN NA48 experiment. This is followed by a discussion of the design of the control software for that system. We particularly emphasize the object-oriented technique of encapsulation. © 1997 American Institute of Physics.
