A Study of the Flame Retardancy of Poplar Woodfiber/Nano-Al_2O_3 Composite Material by the Cone Calorimeter

The TTI,heat release rate(HRR),total heat release(THR),effective heat of combustion(EHC),mass loss rate(MLR) of the medium density fiberboard(MDF) with the untreated wood fibers and MDF with the treated wood fibers by nano-Al2O3 were studied by the cone calorimeter.The experiment results showed that:(1) compared with the MDF with untreated wood fiber,TTI of MDF with treated wood fibers increased twice;(2) the two heat release peaks(45 s and 175 s) of MDF with treated wood fibers weakened obviously,and the heat release rate(HRR) deceased considerably;average HRR values decreased by 38% while the peak value of HRR decreased by 25%;(3) THR values of MDF with treated wood fibers dropped by 38%;(4) before the emergence of the second heat release peak(175 s),EHC values of MDF with treated wood fibers were slightly lower than those of MDF with untreated wood fibers,and the both curves were gentle;(5) the changing tends of curves of MLR were similar to those of HRR curves.
