ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC ACTIVITY OF N-(BENZO(D)OXAZOL-2-YL)- 2-(5-BROMO-2-OXOINDOLIN-3-Y LIDENE) HYDRAZINE CARBOXAMIDE IN DIABETIC CHICKS

2014
The present study was aimed to evaluate the antihyperglycemic activity of N-(Benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)-2-(5-bromo-2oxoindolin-3-ylidene) hydrazinecarboxamide, a novel isatin derivative using diabetic chick model. The antihyperglycemic activity of Isatin derivative was evaluated against alloxan induced diabetes in chick model. The diabetic chicks were treated with single dose of test compound at a dose of 50 and 100mg/kg. Blood samples were collected at different intervals and analyzed for fasting glucose levels. Diabetes mellitus was successfully produced in chick model. Treatment with test compound with a single dose of 50 and 100mg/kg to diabetic chicks resulted a significant lowering of blood glucose levels and were found to be as dose dependant (p<0.01) indicating the antidiabetic or anti-hyperglycemic activity of test compound. The study results confirmed the anti-hyperglycemic activity of N-(Benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)-2-(5-bromo-2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene) hydrazinecarboxamide in chicks.
