Study of Development of Various Morphological Phases and Its Effects on the Thermal Coated Specimen—A Review

2022
Thermal spray coating techniques have been widely used for improving the surface properties of the specimen like corrosion resistance, hardness, friction resistance, wear resistance, erosion resistance etc. All these properties not only depend on the type of coating material but also on the surface morphology. The work material during thermal spray came across critical operating conditions like high temperature, pressure. Moreover, the coating morphology also depends on the size, type and shape of the coating material. This showed a noticeable effect on the performance of the coated surface. The different characterization techniques are available to study the morphological properties of the coated samples. In this review, the effect of various parameters on the surface morphology of thermal spray coating has been studied.
