Associated aortic coarctation and thoraco-abdominal aneurysm in a 17-year old woman with moderate mitral regurgitation

Figure 1: The volume-rendered 3D image revealed a voluminous calcified aneurysm above renal arteries (A) following the aortic stenosis (1) which reduced the diameter of the aorta from 22.5 to 6.5 mm (71%). (B) Multiple calcified aneurysms were identified including one to the coeliac trunk and the superior mesenteric artery (2). Mechanism of mitral regurgitation was only functional and was the consequence of a high left ventricular afterload, due to the thoracic aortic stenosis. There was no aortic root disease, with a non-calcified and tricuspid aortic valve, and without stenosis or regurgitation.
