SURGICAL TREATMENT OF A BRONCHOGENIC CYST ON THE LEFT DIAPHRAGM

We experienced a case of bronchogenic cyst on the left diaphragm, which had been overlooked at yearly medical checkup by simple chest X-ray film after 1984 when the patient joined the Jieitai and gradually enlarged for 6 years.A 26-year-old man visited our hospital complaining of left chest pain. Simple chest X-ray film showed a cystic lesion in the left mediastium. Post lateral thoracotomy was approached in left thoracic cavity. The cyst was found on the left diaphragm. No aberrant vessels were encountered around the cyst, and the cyst didn't connected with lung nor mediastium. The cyst was removed from the diaphragm. Pathologically it was a rare bronchogenic cyst on the diaphragm.
