Effect of variation of temperature on second-derivative fluorescence spectra. Part II. Effect of experimental parameters on the observed temperature coefficients

The effects of varying a number of experimental parameters on the temperature coefficients of the second-derivative fluorescence spectral amplitudes of chlorpromazine sulphoxide in pH 8 borate buffer have been investigated. The temperature coefficients were found to decrease with increasing concentration and with increasing scan speed, to increase with increasing excitation and emission slit widths and to vary widely with the wavelengths at which the measurements were made. These effects are discussed in relation to the observed or theoretical changes that occur in the fundamental spectra as a result of variation of the experimental parameters.
