Calorimetric investigation of the polymerization of organobi- and organotricyclosiloxanes

Abstract The anionic polymerization of organobi- and organotricyclosiloxanes containing organocyclotrisiloxane fragments has been investigated by a calorimetric method. The opening of organocyclotrisiloxane fragments makes the main contribution to the enthalpy change during the catalytic polymerization. The magnitude of the enthalpy change largely depends on the nature of the diorganosiloxane unit in the organocyclotrisiloxane fragment.
