Use of forehead flap in reconstruction of the forehead skin defects

2013
Objective Use of forehead flap in reconstruction of horehead skin defects. Methods According to the condition of the forehead defect, surgical repair was completed with local transfer of a forehead flap which is nourished by supratrochlear and supraorbital arteries. Results There were 5 cases in this cohort, with the largest defect being 6cm×4cm and the smallest one being 2m×2cm in size. All flaps survived, and wounds were healed by first intention.1 had local graft necrosis at the donor site of the flap, and was healed by dressing. The follow-up being conducted for 7 months to 12 months, the flap was good color and sensation, satisfactory appearance and functional recovery of forehead region. Conclusion Since forehead flaps contain blood vessels that are less variant, superficially located, with abundant blood supply, and easy to dissect and harvest, these may be favorable choice for repair of forehead skin defects.
