Synthetic fuels from eastern oil shale. Executive summary

The main objectives of this study were to make a resource assessment, a mining study, and a process economic evaluation of oil shale in Lewis and Fleming counties, Kentucky. Two surface retorting processes, Paraho and HYTOPT, were selected and the process and economic analyses were made for a 30,000 tons/day oil shale retorting facility. The results of this investigation are presented.
