Caracterización de la migración y los determinantes sociales de la salud en el Continente Americano.

2020
Objectives:  To relate the types of migration considering social determinants of health in the American Continent; and characterize the migrant population by sex.  Methods:  A search was done at PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs, EBSCO, and Google Scholar using MeSH terms. For the inclusion criteria, the title and abstract were analyzed considering: being linked to migration in the American continent, related to the social determinants of health and language (Spanish or English). Articles that mentioned migratory processes or migrants from Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, migrations in the same country, investigations where migration was linked to specific pathologies, critical reviews of the literature, and letters to the editor were excluded.  Results:  titles and abstracts of 1,488 articles were accessed, inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, obtaining 25 articles. 4 duplicate articles were eliminated, reaching 21 final articles.  Conclusion:  Regardless of the type of migration, there is a greater female migratory flow. The determinants that affect health are similar in general within the American continent. However, when we talk about access to the health system, it was observed that there is a difference, depending on the type of migration
