Detection and Observables

2013
Powerful detection methods and reliable observables are the cornerstones in the analysis of many-body quantum phases of ultracold atoms. By far the most detection techniques aim at direct imaging of atomic densities either in-situ or after time-of-flight expansion. On the basis of experimental images, observables are defined that characterize the quantum many-body state.
