Liečba ak´utnej idiopatickej trombocytopenickej purpury : porovnanie výsledkov liečby rôznymi dávkami metylprednizolonu

2002
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disease. After sideropenic anaemia it is the second most frequent haematological disease in childhood. Its course is as a rule benign. Some patients require treatment due to the clinical signs of haemorrhage or markedly low thrombocyte values where the patient is at high risk of severe haemorrhage. In the submitted paper the authors compare the therapeutic results with methylprednisolone (MP) administered by the i.v. route in 26 patients hospitalized with acute ITP during a five-year period at the Second Paediatric Department, School of Medicine, Comenius University and Children's Hospital. The patients were divided into two groups. Patients in the first group were given MP - 10 mg/kg/day i.v. for three consecutive days, patients of the second group MP - 30 mg/kg/day i.v. also for three days. The objective of the work was to find out whether there are differences between the two groups as regards the rising trend of Tr, the need to proceed with treatment after the basic 3-day treatment and development of the chronic form of ITP. The authors did not observe statistically significant differences in the therapeutic results between the two groups of patients treated with different doses of methylprednisolone.
