The Significance of the Sexual Dependency of Lithogenic and Inhibitory Substances in Urine

1985
Early studies indicated that the ratio of males:females among urolithiasis patients was 3:1. More recent studies, however, have shown that an increasing number of women suffer from stones. In our own study in 1980 of more than 10,000 persons the ratio of males:females was 1:1.2. For calcium oxalate urolithiasis, the age maxima are approximately the same for men and women, although weddellite stones are found more frequently in young people.
