Produção científica em laser / LED na odontologia brasileira no período de 2015 a 2019

Introduction: Laser/ LED (Light Emitting Diode) and its applications have been widely recommended in dentistry and the substantial increase in scientific production in this area has attracted the interest of the scientific community due to the positive results in clinical studies and systematic reviews. The meeting of the Sociedade Brasileira de Pesquisa Odontologica (SBPqO) is the most important scientific event in Dentistry in Brazil, in which the papers published in its meetings are capable of representing Brazilian scientific production in laser/ LED. Objective: To determine the profile of Brazilian publications in laser/ LED from 2014 to 2018. Material and Methods: A retrospective study was carried out, through indirect documentation, through the analysis of the papers presented at SBPqO meetings from 2014 to 2018. Results: A total of 452 abstracts involving the use of laser/ LED were evaluated, which were classified as educational institution, state of the country, dental specialty and type of study. In relation to the educational institution, the state universities produced 47.1% of the published abstracts. The state of Sao Paulo concentrated a total of 302 works. The specialty of Aesthetics and dental materials was the one that carried out researches in laser/ LED, with a total of 115 works. Regarding the design of the study, most of the abstracts (339) were of the basic laboratory research type. Conclusions: It is concluded that the largest number of researches in this area was developed in the State of Sao Paulo, State Public Institutions throughout the country and in the specialty of Aesthetics and dental materials. In addition, a greater number of laboratory-type studies were observed.
