Homosexuality and Personnel Security

1991
Abstract : This study examines the relationship between homosexuality and personnel security. It reviews legal, biological and social science literature on homosexuality. The study concludes that there are few data to support the premise that all homosexuals represent a security risk. It affirms the current guidelines that call for examination of individual security clearance decisions on a case-by-case basis. The author notes that homosexuals are often seen to constitute a morally suspect class and have been the target of discriminatory policies. The aim of the paper is to provide context for personnel security professional as they weigh all appropriate variables in making security clearance determinations.
