Gastrointestinal stromal tumor in duodenum as a cause of bleeding

2011
We are presenting the case of a patient who came with melena accompanied by weight loss, fatigue, anorexia, who was initially examined in a private institution, being diagnosed with acute gastrointestinal bleeding through high resolution gastrointestinal video endoscopy. The patient is admitted to the internal medicine room of this hospital with a diagnosis of neoplasia in the second duodenal portion which occupies 65% of the light. With biopsy studies performed, we identified spindle cell tumor type GIST. The patient is sent to the San Aurelio operating room where he underwent surgery, and through immunohistochemical studies the presence of GIST was confirmed.
